Six o'clock on an October evening is not, it emerges, the best of times for unskilled photographers to try and photograph moving babies in natural light. It is, however, the perfect time for small winged sprites to enjoy their first-ever trick-or-treating experience, accompanied by assorted chefs and dragons and yodelers and zoo keepers and cowgirls. Mabel had a ball.
