Luggage Store Gallery recently hosted Tropical Disturbance - the Bay Area's first major exhibition of Hawaiian contemporary art. The work was both playful and beautiful, poking all sorts of holes in all sorts of stereotypes, both directly and by standing on its own terms. Here were a few of my favorites:
