In the New Living Room!

Personal friends and family, as well as followers of my Instagram, will know that we engaged in a major redo of our apartment this summer. I hope soon to blog about the results in detail, but for now here is a golden polaroid of the child standing on the new sofa which stands on the new rug in the new living room.

baby shrimp
and
thousand
island
dressing

just
all those ingredients?
together?
huh?

I got it at a joint almost never go to
and I remembered why
when the thing set me back eight bucks
But man
it was
quite tasty

Continuing the train of thought started last week re Vivienne Westwood, let's just contemplate for a moment the inspirational style of Paper Magazine founder and editor Kim Hastreiter, shall we? She has her signature big red eyeglasses and a custom fashion uniform in various brilliant colors designed just for her by David Wilson. An amazing look. So super cool.

The Prune Costume

Over the summer they did a thing at preschool of dressing up in costumes, and Mabel's class decided they wanted to be fruits. And Mabel decided she wanted to be a prune. Of course she did. We may not be good at every single thing there is to be good at around chez nous, but one thing we are fabulous at is whipping up a costume on short notice. Some black hefty bags, some black electrical tape, a purple tee-shirt, and bam! prune costume! done and done.

Sugimoto for Hermes

Have I seriously never blogged this? Never?! It's one of my favorite art projects of the past several years! In 2012 a special project within venerable fashion house Hermes, called Hermes Editeur, that makes limited edition silk scarves with artists, collaborated with amazing artist Hiroshi Sugimoto on a scarf edition. Sugimoto is known for his black-and-white photos, but this time he used expired Polaroid film to shoot brilliant abstracts of pure light and color. The resulting images are so perfect they make my head want to fall off every time I look at them. Feast your eyes!
