Tord Boontje


Today's art book is Tord Boontje by Martina Margetts. While I have to admit that I am not a giant fan of the housewares that make up much of its contents, there are still certain things about this volume that make it fantastically cool. The first is its physical package. This book has production bells and whistles like you wouldn't believe. As you may or may not be able to see above, the cover boards incorporate some sort of woven textile-like material similar to fiber tape. Very texturally awesome. And then, on all the text pages (which are also, almost by the way, a different paper stock than the image pages) you have this absolutely amazing hole-punched design running down the edge of the page:


And then there are spreads like the ones below, showing the object quality and general wonderfulness of the cut paper form:
