Out and About

Last week I went out to the De Young Museum to visit some friends and colleagues in the publications department there. They work right smack up inside the middle of the museum's big observation tower. What an fantastic place to have an office! Last year we worked together on bringing out this awesome book, Thirty-Six Views of the Eiffel Tower--

Which is (shameless self-promotion alert) a reproduction of a stunningly beautiful turn-of-the-last-century book  from the museum's collection. On this visit I got to see, not only their recently completed book Balenciaga and Spain--

but also the fabulous museum show on which the book is based--

These images barely begin to scratch the surface of the coolness of the gowns and suits on display in this show. Such an astonishing array of gorgeous clothing. Such a great exhibition.
