I went into the recently-opened big new Berggruen Gallery in SOMA yesterday, specifically to see this enormous Helen Frankenthaler. The canvas must be at least fifteen feet across and -- a fact never captured in photos as accurately as one hopes it will be -- the colors, particularly that blue, are almost luminous. Such a thing! Well well worth a special trip.
