New York Glimpses

Just a few little tidbits, today, from our recent trip to New York--favorite sights, sites, and discoveries:

Five Pointz graffiti center in Queens--this is the front of the building which doesn't begin to do it justice, for that you have to ride the subway around the back. Your mind will be officially blown.

Grand Central Station. Maybe it's corny, but this is still one of my favorite places in the city.

Public art made from zillions of colored zip ties wrapped around lampposts near Cooper Union.

Inflatable zebra at Shake Shack.

My other favorite New York spot: the Highline. So wonderful I can't even talk about it.

Baby playground at Tudor City, a perfect shady quiet-yet-urban city park hiding in plain sight.

Huge de Kooning show at the MOMA. Amazing. The abstract canvases in were particular were a revelation (but they are surprisingly hard to find images of online--so while I'm sure the above painting was in the show, I'm not at all sure this is a photo of said show. Image source for this one is here).
