The Continuing Poem Series About the Winter of 2006 Carries On Like This
January 30, 2006
On Saturday morning
between the night rain and the afternoon rain
we made our weekly pilgrimage to the farmer's market
amidst the blustery weather
we bought there a ton of
late winter
early spring
produce for our dinners this week
and lots of cheap flowers
including a small bunch of
orange and lavender freesias
that when we got home I cut short
and put in a squat glass jar on my bedside
where they metaphorically glow
and literally shimmer
a pink greenish gold iridescent powdery surface to their petals
