Today there was
a curl of ribbon
on the floor
just inside the door
of one of the offices
Just a cheap maroon ribbon
thin and papery in texture
it looked like it had fallen off
a bunch of flowers or whatnot
But still there was something
sort of pretty and sweet
even charming about the way
it lay there quietly looped on the rug
